OCTOBER STAFF PICKS

The first week of October is National Mental Health Awareness Week! It is a time to shed light on the experiences faced by individuals dealing with mental illness or mental health struggles. 1 in 5 U.S. adults grapple with a mental illness. Adult Services staff member Kit K. picks literary fiction and romance novels featuring characters navigating depression, anxiety, Autism, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma, eating disorders, and various other mental health experiences. Beyond portraying these experiences, these novels delve into themes of self-acceptance, healing, and the discovery of supportive communities. In exploring these stories, may they foster empathy and learning for those both like 'us' and 'not' like us!
