Museum Passes

Adults with an Eastern Monroe Public Library card in good standing are welcome to check out a pass to the following local museums and attractions to use for free admission and more. Passes are available at the main Hughes Library. See policy information below for more details.

 

Bucks County Children’s Museum The Bucks County Children’s Museum is a fun and educational destination for kids. Its interactive exhibits are designed to encourage imagination and creativity, while fostering individual learning styles and nurturing a love of learning in all children.
Pass Admits: up to 6 people.
Chanticleer: a pleasure garden A colorful contemporary garden within an historic setting.
Pass admits: up to 4 people
Crayola Experience (Discount) Dozens of colorful and creative activities and a full day of fun awaits families in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Drexel University’s Academy of Natural Sciences Philadelphia’s natural history museum offers surprises for all ages, from changing interactive science exhibits to a children’s discovery center, a fossil dig, and opportunities to interact with real science experts.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 5 children
Eastern State Penitentiary ESP was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, housing many of America’s most notorious criminals, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. Tours offer a glimpse at life inside the prison’s historic cell blocks.
Pass admits: up to 6 individuals age 7 or over – under 7 complimentary.
ESU Schisler Museum and McMunn Planetarium The only science center in the Pocono Mountains where you can enjoy nature and astronomy all under one roof!
Pass admits: up to 10 family members.
Elmwood Park Zoo This 80-acre zoo maintains a collection of over 100 species including bald and golden eagles, jaguars, red pandas, Chacoan peccaries, howler monkeys, and gray wolves.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 6 children.
Independence Seaport Museum The ISM is dedicated to the maritime history of the Philadelphia region and other major urban ports along the Delaware River.
Pass admits: 2 adults and up to 4 children
Shofuso Japanese House and Garden Designed by architect Junzo Yoshimura, Shofuso was built in Japan in 1953 using traditional techniques and materials. This historic site and museum includes a hill and pond garden with a tiered waterfall, island, and koi fish, a tea garden featuring a traditional tea house, and a courtyard garden leading to a bathhouse. Check Out Information
• Museum passes can be checked out for 5 days. They cannot be renewed. Passes are available for pickup ONLY at the main Hughes Library.
• Passes may be requested in person at the library or by phone. If available, the requested pass can be held until closing. If the pass is not checked out within that timeframe, it will be made available to other users. Passes are not holdable through the library catalog.
• Museum pass pick-ups are available during library hours.
• Only one Museum Pass per family may be borrowed at a time.

Return Information
• Do not place Museum Passes in the outside book drops. Passes must be returned in person to the circulation desk at the Hughes Library.
• Overdue passes will be assessed a $5 per day fee.

General Information
• Eastern Monroe Public Library cardholders, age 18 and up, with an account in good standing are eligible to borrow a Museum Pass.
• There is no fee to borrow a Museum Pass, however, fees will be assessed if it is returned late, damaged or lost.
• Borrowers must sign the EMPL Museum Pass Policy before checking out a pass for the first time.
• The guidelines for each Museum Pass are different. Please refer to the information included with each pass at check out.

Late, Lost, or Stolen Museum Passes
• There is a $5 per day overdue fine for Museum Passes. The maximum fine is the cost of the particular Museum Pass (e.g. $299 for the Academy of Natural Sciences, $120 for Chanticleer Garden.)
• If the Museum Pass is damaged, the patron will be charged the museum’s fee for a replacement card.
• If the Museum Pass is lost or stolen, the patron will be responsible for the full cost of the replacement membership.
