Words & Film Free Sunday Movie Matinee

The Words & Film Sunday Matinee continues with a free presentation of the HBO Original The Apollo–a film exploring the unique history and legacy of the New York City landmark theater based in Harlem–on February 2nd at 2:00 PM.

 

Filmmaker Roger Ross Williams looks at the storied history of this iconic theater while following the Apollo’s inaugural staging of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ acclaimed “Between the World and Me”.

 

This documentary features a cast including Angela Bassett, Common, Jamie Foxx, Doug E. Fresh, Savion Glover, Patti LaBelle, Paul McCartney, Smokey Robinson, Pharrell Williams, and many others. This film is not rated but has some brief language not suitable for children.
