Tech Thursdays Are Back – Plus a Special Evening Class

This February, we’re excited to bring back Tech Thursdays at the library, with a lineup of free technology classes designed to help you develop practical skills and build confidence with digital tools. Whether you’re new to technology or looking to expand your expertise, these classes have something for everyone.

All Tech Thursday classes take place at 2 PM in the Pullen Room, and registration is required due to limited space. Some classes also have prerequisites, so please review the descriptions carefully before signing up. Call 570-421-0800 ext. 317 or stop by the Hughes Library Information Desk to reserve your spot.

February 2024 Classes

02/06, 2pm – Reading Trackers: Using StoryGraph and/or Goodreads
Learn how to track your reading, set goals, and discover new books using these popular apps. Basic familiarity with computers or a smartphone/tablet is required.

02/13, 2pm – Intro to Computers & the Internet
Perfect for beginners, this class covers essential computer and internet skills like navigating web browsers and searching online. No prior experience needed.

02/20, 2pm – E-Books & eAudiobooks
Learn to borrow and enjoy digital books and audiobooks from the library’s collection. Basic familiarity with computers or a smartphone/tablet is required.

02/27, 2pm – Information Literacy: Identifying Reliable Sources & Avoiding Disinformation
Discover how to evaluate online information, identify trustworthy sources, and avoid misinformation. Basic familiarity with computers or a smartphone/tablet is helpful but not required.

Special Evening Class

In addition to our Thursday classes, we’re offering a one-time evening session this month!

Monday, 02/17, 6pm – Exploring Social Media Platforms Beyond Facebook
This class will guide you through the basics of popular platforms like Instagram, Threads, Pinterest, and X, helping you connect with others and explore new interests. Basic familiarity with computers or a smartphone/tablet is required. Registration is helpful but not required for this session.
