Celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo, while an unofficial observation, is annually celebrated on May 5th, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s vicory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. More popular in the US than in Mexico, especially since the 1980s, the day has come to be a celebration of Mexican-American culture in general. On June 7, 2005, Congress issued a concurrent resolution calling on the President to issue a celebratory proclamation. To celebrate, music and regional dancing is performed, with parties involving cultural food and drink.
