Celebrating the 4th of July

The 4th of July, also called Independence Day, has been annually observed as a paid federal holiday since 1941. The tradition, however, goes back to 1776 and the Declaration of Independence’s signing. It is the national day of the United States. The US Founders themselves recommended parades, fireworks, and parties. Over time, concerts, the beach and pools, baseball games, and barbecues with hotdogs and hamburgers, have become staples as well. Banks, the United States Post Office, and others are closed in observance. Your library’s staff have curated a list of 10 library items to help facilitate your celebration of this nationally preeminent day!
