Celebrating Earth Day

Earth Day is annually observed April 22 to show support for environmental protection and peace. Begun in 1970, it began to be celebrated outside the US in 1990 and eventually to include 193 countries. Many years have themes to coordinate specific educational programs and activities, which have included clean water, recycling, trees, and even voting. The Earth Day Network and the UN’s Earth Society Foundation are instrumental in determining and coordinating annual events. Your library’s staff have curated a list of 10 library items to help facilitate your celebration of this important and vital day!
