Celebrating Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a national holiday honoring family matriarchs, motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. Anna Jarvis organized the first celebratory day in the US in 1907, though a push to have a day of recognition began decades before. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially designated the second Sunday in May as such. Other countries have the celebration on other days. Your library’s staff have curated a list of 10 library items to help facilitate your celebration of this day of esteemed gratitude!
