Celebrating Valentine’s Day

(Saint) Valentine’s Day is annually observed on February 14th. It is not an official holiday, though it’s been celebrated as a Christian feast day for many centuries. In fact, some churches celebrate multiple St. Valentine’s Days since there are three Valentines who have been canonized. The first linkage of the day to romantic love is noted by Geoffrey Chaucer in 1382. Since then, the holiday has grown in popularity to now being considered the day to recognize and celebrate romance, especially with the gifting of chocolates, flowers, and cards.
