Movie Summary:
James J. Braddock (Russell Crowe) is a former boxer forced to retire after a broken hand. During the Great Depression, he struggles to support his family through manual labor until a last-minute opportunity to fight the world’s second-ranked contender, Corn Griffin. Braddock unexpectedly wins, sparking a comeback. With the possibility of a title fight against heavyweight champion Max Baer, Braddock rises from poverty to national hero. Despite being a 10-to-1 underdog, he defeats Baer in a historic match, becoming the heavyweight champion and symbolizing hope for many during the Depression.
