Remembering EMPL Foundation Donors

Gustave and Karen Larsen
Karen and Gustave Larsen moved to their Cherry Valley farm in 1948, operating Larsen’s Antiques there until 2007.

Their attorney, William Cassebaum, shared that the Larsens wished their property to benefit Monroe County children. The Monroe County Library became their primary beneficiary.

Upon Karen’s passing in 2008, the EMPL became the primary beneficiary of her estate, receiving over $400,000 to support the Eastern Monroe Public Library.

Income from these invested funds is used primarily for children’s materials—books, equipment, and resources—while also supporting general collections when needed.

The EMPL Foundation continues to honor the Larsens’ wishes by providing sustainable annual support to the library.
