HUB – New Book Club at Hughes Library

The Hughes Library is starting a new monthly book club! We’re kicking it off with Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

In Gilead, Marilynne Robinson brings us an intimate tale of three generations, from the Civil War to the 20th century: a story about fathers and sons and the spiritual battles that still rage at America’s heart. In the words of Kirkus, it is a novel “as big as a nation, as quiet as thought, and moving as prayer. Matchless and towering.” Gilead tells the story of America and will break your heart.

Call us at 570-421-0800 ext. 316 or stop by the Hughes Reference desk (2nd floor) to sign up!

The book club will meet from 6:30-8:30 pm on the first Tuesday of each month, starting on February 6th in Eisemann B, one of the new meeting rooms on the 2nd floor of the Hughes Library.

Our second meeting will be 6:30-8:30 on Tuesday, March 6th when we will read The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld.
